Snell Fontus, M.D.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1963, the son of a missionary and fluent in both English and French, Dr. Fontus has traveled extensively in Africa, Europe, Asia, the West Indies and the United States. Now, a citizen of the U.S.A., Dr. Fontus' affinity for Oregon first developed in his premed days as a college student in The Dalles (1981-83).
From there he attended the University of Minnesota for his Bachelor of Science degree (1983-85) and received his degree as a Doctor of Medicine from Howard University, Washington, D.C. (1985-89). His surgical residency was performed at the University of Hawaii (1989-94). For FHP, Inc. (1994-96) he worked in the Asia/Pacific Region. He ultimately returned to Oregon taking the position of General Surgeon at Cottage Grove Hospital (1997-98).
Dr. Fontus is certified by the American Board of Surgery and licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington. He is also a Fellow, American College of Surgeons. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (1992).
